Trying to keep up with Fixed Layout Epub Specs on each of the ebookstores has become quite difficult. Amazon has released a decent amount of developer information on its website. Apple has done the same. Barnes & Noble perplexingly doesn’t allow fixed layout development by independent ebook conversion houses, and Google is a bit of a mystery at this point.
Kobo has also been a bit of a mystery. Their official statement is that they closely follow Apple’s fixed layout specs. However, the actual Developer documentation was been hard to come by. Thankfully the publisher support at Kobo is excellent and we were able to get a copy of the Kobo’s fixed layout specs and thought it would be nice to share it with the world. The bottom line is the specs are essentially the same as Apple’s in most cases. Go ahead and have a look!
